NEW YORK – New York City felt alive and overjoyed when the announcement on Saturday morning was released that Democratic candidate Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris won the election according to projections by NBC news. .
The sounds of car horns, people banging on pots and pans, and even applause were heard minutes after the announcement was made.
Crowds quickly gathered in Times Square, Grand Army Plaza, Columbus Circle, Washington Square Park, and dozens of people flooded the streets of the city’s neighborhoods to join in the collective celebration. Near Fort Green Park in Brooklyn, hundreds of people held a meeting where bottles of champagne were even exploded.

Officials from the New York metropolitan area, including Mayor Bill de Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo, sent messages of congratulations and support to the president and vice president-elect. Senator Chuck Schumer was seen outside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn along with several hundred amid continued cheering.
