New York and London canceled

Motorsport-Magazin.com – The flood of rejections in motorsport continues. Formula E has now canceled the last two laps in New York and London. The races in New York and the double header in the British capital were planned as the last two laps in the original calendar. The ePrix in New York should have taken place on July 11th, while the season finale in London was planned for July 25th and 26th. But the corona crisis, which threatens motorsport events worldwide, makes city races in the two metropolises, which are badly affected by the virus, completely impossible.

A spokesman for the Electro Formula Series said: “As the London venue is used as a temporary hospital and is doing its part to continue the fight against the coronavirus, the London E-Prix will be canceled.”

The series spokesperson continued: “Our top priority remains the health and safety of our employees and the entire community of teams, manufacturers, partners, drivers and fans, as well as residents and citizens in the cities in which we drive.”

Although all of the remaining laps of the championship have no new date for the time being, Formula E wants to continue through the season. Possible catch-up dates for the ePrix in Seoul and Berlin are under discussion. In addition, the series could switch to circuits away from the city centers. There is talk of replacing the E-Prix in London with races at Brands Hatch, Donington Park or Silverstone. However, there are no specific reports on this yet.

A replacement race for canceled runs on the Valencia circuit was planned back in April. However, due to the rapid spread of the virus in Spain, nothing came of these plans.
