The commissioner of the Police Bureau, Henry Escalera confirmed on Friday the arrest of the man who was accused in absentia as the alleged author of the first massacre of 2020, which occurred on New Year’s Day in Trujillo Alto.
Escalera said it is José Carlos Aponte Ramos, 36, who was arrested in the Right Field Sport Bar and Grill business in Humacao on Thursday night by agents of the Special Arrest and Extraditions Division. He had a bail of $ 27.5 million and already had a criminal record.
“(Aponte Ramos) vilely murders two adults and two minors and tried to kill another young man. He has an accusation of four murders and an attempted murder and two articles of the Weapons Law. It is very sad how this happened, ”said Escalera in a radio interview (NotiUno).
The massacre took place at dawn on New Year’s Day on the PR-843 road, Los Ramos road in the Carraízo plots in Trujillo Alto. There, the husbands Edwin Ramos, 40, and Dorothy Wickline, 47, were killed. Their nine-year-old twin children were also killed, while another son of the couple, 16, was injured.
The head of the Uniformed indicated that at the moment, the motive of the crime is an alleged row of neighbors. “(There were) some problems that were emerging earlier and this led this person to solve this specific situation in this vile way. They lived in the final Los Ramos sector that has no way out and there were problems with some children of the marriage, ”said Escalera.
“They had problems because of the disorder that one of the boys had. Motorboats were running in the area and other situations were emerging that created the grudge. We do not have information that is for the minors, but with the other young man who was injured and the one who was in jail, ”he added.
The subject was taken to the Headquarters and then the arrest warrant was filled before a judge and the order to enter the prison was issued. The Uniformed has not occupied the murder weapon.
