The city of Offenbach extends the curfew. There should be minimal relaxation at Christmas. The warning level “black” applies to southern Hesse.
At least three hours longer. The city of Offenbach grants its citizens that much more time on Christmas Eve with their families. Instead of 9 p.m., the curfew does not apply until midnight on December 24th. It comes into force on the two Christmas holidays from 10 p.m. But that was it with the easing.
On Sunday, the city extended the curfew, which was originally in force until December 23, due to the coronavirus pandemic, to December 31. Even on New Year’s Eve, nobody is allowed to leave the house without a valid reason such as working or receiving medical care. The firecracker ban applies nationwide anyway.
Conditions for the nights
In Offenbach, the seven-day incidence has been over 200 since October 26th. On Sunday, the city reported that there were 60 new cases of infection on Friday and 45 on Saturday. The current seven-day incidence is 250.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The curfew can only be lifted according to the regulations of the country when the 200 mark is undercut for five days in a row. But even if the numbers were to fall after Christmas Eve, the numbers would be skewed due to the fewer tests taking place on the holidays, which is why the city has decided to maintain the curfew until at least the end of the year.
Night curfews also apply from Monday in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district and on Bergstrasse. According to the Robert Koch Institute, the seven-day incidence in the past few days in both districts was three times in a row above the value of 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The “black” warning level according to the Hessian escalation concept was thus achieved. The curfews apply between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. During this time, leaving your own home is only permitted for important reasons. According to the district administration, more than 1000 people are currently acutely infected with the novel corona virus in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district. Within a week, 14 people in the district who were infected with the pathogen died, and during this time more than 600 people tested positive for the Sars-CoV-2 virus.
