The new world record reads 6.01.56. Nils van der Poel broke with 30 hundredths the old record of 6.01.86, which was set by the Canadian Ted-Jan Bloemen on the same course in 2017.
Salt Lake City is a fast track and there were hopes that van der Poel would not only be able to challenge the world record, but maybe even be the first to come in 6 minutes.
