The Adventist University of the Antilles (UAA) has become one of the pioneering institutions in having advanced technology, which allows a new experience of distance learning, through amphitheater and virtual classrooms.
The platform, called RICOH Collaborate Classrooms, will be used starting this semester in the offerings of all educational programs in distance, online, hybrid and remote modality, according to the president of the UAA, Obed Jiménez.
“Our institution has always sought to stay at the forefront of options that facilitate the educational process. In this platform we saw the opportunity to respond to the challenges of Covid-19, to elevate the experience of our local and international students and to adapt to their needs. Likewise, it becomes a powerful tool that supports the work of teachers, ”said Jiménez.
The new platform creates seven collaborative classrooms with interactive screens and audiovisual systems, which will allow the interactivity of the students.
In addition, the conversion of the Antillean Adventist University amphitheater into high-quality technology was completed with the aim of holding educational conferences, workshops and classes virtually with high quality and innovation, explained Professor Mayra Soto Román, director of the Department Distance Education Department of UAA.
“Each professor will develop the courses interactively with the students in person and online, simultaneously and in real time. In addition, the meetings will be recorded so that the students can review the concepts and material of the course, ”said Soto.
Jiménez, for his part, stressed that the amphitheater will allow them to continue reinforcing their social commitment to educate the community, since they will be able to hold conferences at a national and international level with an occupation of 30% of participants, while it is projected virtually.
