WHO’s technical director for coronavirus, Maria Van Kerkhove, said the new option is worrying. Her words leads CNBC.
“So far, we know that this variant has a large number of mutations. The concern is that many mutations can affect the behavior of the virus,” she explained.
At the same time, Kerkhove stressed that it is too early to worry.
It will take several days to determine the potential effects of the strain on humans, she said.

The researchers said many mutations could be resistant to vaccines. Also, this strain has the potential to become more infectious than Delta.
