The new Skoda Kodiaq comes with a new look and state-of-the-art technology. The model relies on the success of its launch. Over 600,000 units have been built.
The Czech manufacturer has made a number of design changes. The car now comes with a straighter radiator grille, bars and a redesigned hood. New, narrower headlights appear, with LED technology in the standard equipment, Full LED Matrix optional. Skoda takes into account a look that attests to the off-road whims of the model.
At the back, a new speaker and new taillights, in the shape of the letter “C”, appear.
The new Skoda Kodiaq comes with an upgraded cab
His cabin Kodiaq relies on comfort and a dynamic atmosphere. LED ambient light and contrasting stitching create a modern space. For the first time in the Kodiaq range, ergonomic chairs with electric adjustments, heated and ventilated, equipped with a massage function, are available.
New types of upholstery are available. Customers who order the Ambition or Style equipment lines will receive chairs with upholstery made from recycled materials.
A new steering wheel is found on board. As standard, it is a multifunctional steering wheel with two spokes, while the Sportline and RS versions receive one with three spokes.
The car’s functions can also be controlled via a 9.2-inch touch screen. An 10.15-inch digital instrument panel can be ordered as an option, which can be configured in four different ways. The mode number 5 appears in the case of the Sportline and RS versions.
Customers can choose one of the Bolero, Amundsen and Columbus multimedia systems, all with integrated eSIM cards and the possibility of connecting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. Assistant Laura can receive orders in 15 languages, including Czech, English, German, French, Italian and Spanish.
Skoda also worked on the chapter “safety”. The adaptive cruise control function is active up to a speed of 210 km / h. The automatic emergency braking system comes with the function of detecting pedestrians and cyclists. New sensors have been installed in the rear to warn those on board of the risk of a rear-end collision.
New Skoda Kodiaq – engines
Five engines are available in the Kodiaq range. The basic version is the one started by the 1.5 TSI engine with 150 horsepower and cylinder deactivation function at partial load. This unit is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and is available with front-wheel drive only.
The equivalent version with diesel engine is 2.0 TDI with 150 horsepower, with seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and dual clutch, which can be controlled with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Those who want more can choose a 2.0 TSI with 190 horsepower or a 2.0 TDI with 200 horsepower.
The top version remains the Skoda Kodiaq RS with a state-of-the-art engine. It is about the 2.0 TSI unit, 245 horsepower and DSG automatic transmission. The RS version with diesel engine disappears from the range.
