After the resounding success of Unorthodox, and after being nominated for a Golden Globe for best actress for her performance in the Netflix production, Shira Haas will be responsible for putting herself in Golda Meir’s shoes, said the specialized site Deadline.

Emmy winner Eric Tuchman (The Handmaid’s Tale) will be in charge of the script and production. It will also be directed by fellow Emmy winner Mimi Leder (The Morning Show). The series will be based on the biographical book Lioness: Golda Meir and the Nation of Israel, by Francine Klagsbrun.

The book tells the life of Meir, one of the most influential figures in the history of the State of Israel. It begins with his birth in Kiev and goes through his education in America. It also recounts her activism and her role in the formation of the State, as well as her rise to become the only woman to hold the position of Prime Minister (so far).

This is the first scripted television series project for Streisand, a two-time Oscar and five-time Emmy winner. On television, she was an executive producer of the documentary series The Living Century.

In 2018, when Nina Tassler (one of the producers) obtained the rights to the book, andHe expressed: “Golda Meir is one of the greatest and most prominent figures in world history and her entire life must be told as a wife, mother, teacher and creator of a country in one of the most complicated nations in the world.”
