A new scandal erupted at the World Cup in Qatar after CNN revealed that the families of Iran’s national soccer team were allegedly threatened with torture if they did not ‘behave properly’ during World Cup matches.
The team defiantly did not sing the national anthem in the 6-2 defeat against England, but then before the 2-0 victory the players ended their boycott.
According to CNN, all the players were summoned to a meeting with members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and told that if they did not change their behaviour, their families would suffer.
In addition, all team members are prohibited from meeting with foreigners and talking about the situation in Iran.

“There are many Iranian officials in Qatar who are constantly monitoring footballers and reporting on their behavior,” CNN said.
Team coach Carlos Queiroz confirmed a meeting with members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard but said it was to propel the team to success against Wales, which they did.
According to him, everyone had been promised “gifts and cars”.
CNN also says that for the team’s next game with the United States tonight at 9pm, hundreds of mercenaries will be sent to the stands to support the team and observe anti-regime protests among the rest of the fans.
We recall that the US Soccer Federation added fuel to the fire by publishing an Iranian flag without the coat of arms of the Islamic Republic as a sign of support for the protests in the country.
