The price is of course not a bargain for the GTS from CHF 103,000.

One thing in advance: In terms of appearance, the new Porsche Macan GTS is in no way inferior to the more powerful top model Turbo. However, there is a gap in the drive when looking at the performance data. In both variants, the double-charged 2.9-liter V6 serves as the engine. In the turbo, however, the unit delivers 440 hp (324 kW) and 550 Nm, while the GTS “only” has 380 hp (280 kW) and 520 Nm torque.

It is all the more surprising that you can only feel a bit of the difference in performance in practice if you really put your weight in it: To accelerate the almost two-ton all-wheel drive vehicle to 100 km / h, it takes 4.7 seconds in the GTS – 4.5 seconds in the Turbo , The same at the top: GTS 261 km / h, Turbo 270 km / h. In practice, hardly a customer will notice this.

Chassis is a stunner
Rather, you will notice how sporty the 4.69 meter long GTS is on the road in everyday life. The sports suspension, which is 15 millimeters lower, is tight or, depending on the driving program, more than that. The steering is precise and the brakes are as snappy as you would expect from a man from Zuffenhausen. Those who enjoy sporty SUV driving will quickly fall in love with the chassis of the GTS, because – admittedly, thanks to the good sports seats with Alcantara center panels and the handy steering wheel – you are always firmly connected to the car.
–
Not a matter of course for a vehicle of this weight class and certainly not for an SUV. Does anyone feel that you are not sitting in the Porsche Macan Turbo? Hardly likely! Does anyone miss performance? Rather not! Unlike in the turbo, you don’t expect a brutal boost or uncontrollable steam from any position, which, incidentally, it doesn’t offer either. That is why the GTS is probably the best Macan currently available.

High costs for frequent drivers
What remains is the desire for a high-torque diesel that offers enough power and sportiness and also caresses you with economical consumption. Because 11.3 l / 100 km are far from a savings champion and a real cost problem for frequent drivers. If there is something to complain about besides the lack of a diesel variant, then it is at most the seven-stage dual clutch transmission that gives rise to the desire for a softer-shifting automatic converter during its gearshifts.

The interior with lots of leather and dark Alcantara is (unfortunately) in the familiar Macan design: Porsche brought its new 10.9-inch touch display to the dashboard in the GTS, but the center tunnel, which is overloaded with switches, and the analog instruments have an effect on it Years have come. Animated instruments and a tidy center tunnel would be en vogue in 2020. There is nothing to complain about in the loading volume with 488 to 1503 liters. And the price? From 103’000 francs for the GTS is of course not a bargain. But compared to the Turbo, that’s over 18,000 francs less. And less is more in this case.
