The French pet specialist SantéVet is venturing into the German market with insurance for dogs and cats. The insurance broker specializes in health insurance for pets, making it the market leader in France and Belgium by its own account.

“We are very pleased to now also offer our insurance in Germany – together with our strong insurance partner Allianz Germany,” said Jérôme Salord, founder and CEO of SantéVet.

The broker has an “all-in-one” tariff for dogs and cats in the portfolio. Animal owners have a free choice of vet and worldwide insurance coverage. The insurance covers the veterinary costs up to 85 percent, up to 5,000 euros per year, for the entire lifespan. This includes, for example, inpatient stays, ultrasound, x-rays, MRT, CT, laboratory analyzes and patient transports. All medication and treatment support measures as well as alternative treatments such as physiotherapy, osteopathy, acupuncture, laser, homeopathy or hydrotherapy are also paid for. A lump sum of 50 euros per year is reimbursed for preventive measures such as vaccinations or the identification of animals.

Indoor cat tariff

The amount of the monthly insurance premium takes into account not only the age of the animal but also the breed of the dog or cat, whereby no breed is excluded. The tariff is tailored to the risks associated with the breed.

The “Cat Indoor” tariff is specially designed for indoor cats. This offers cat health insurance with benefits that are tailored to the actual risks of indoor cats. SantéVet pays 90 percent of the veterinary costs; the annual upper limit is 1,800 euros. In addition, therapeutic food is reimbursed at a flat rate of 50 euros and there is also a preventive flat rate of 50 euros.
