New Overwatch 2 map unveiled by developer Blizzard

Blizzard developers teased a new Overwatch 2 map, or rather, maps, in a recent interview. Originally speaking about the newly added Kanezaka map in the original Overwatch, the developers were asked which cities we might be looking at in Overwatch 2. The developers weren’t forthcoming, however, so we were left to guess.

Overwatch 2 will have a much broader scope than the original game. With the world in the grip of a Second Omnic Crisis, Overwatch reforms to restore peace to the world. This is likely to lead us to a host of old and new maps from around the world.

For example, although nothing has been confirmed yet, at least one developer said they would like to have a map in Krakow, a major city in Poland. Although, again, nothing concrete has been confirmed. However, it does give Overwatch fans a lot to speculate on.

Several different Overwatch maps were distributed around the world on a variety of continents, and any new Overwatch 2 map we see is likely no exception. For example, although Rio de Janiero has only been used in an event to promote the 2016 Olympics, players can now enter the real city in Overwatch 2.

Along with that, we may see other Overwatch maps that were previously in the original Overwatch returning in the sequel. Given the change in situation, some of these maps may end up changing in some way, especially with Null Sector terrorism spreading across the globe.

As Overwatch 2 gets closer and closer to release, we are likely to see many new Overwatch 2 maps revealed. BlizzCon may not be far off, and after it was canceled last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, hopefully we will get a lot of information about it.
