New on Netflix: These films and series were released last week | NOW

Every week, Netflix expands its offer with new series and films. This week we see, among other things, a new Sherlock Holmes series and some action films.

Series

The Serpent (season 1)

In the 1970s, Southeast Asia is a popular travel destination for European hippies. After a while, it becomes apparent that many young tourists experience ‘accidents’ on their voyage of discovery. Dutch diplomat Herman Knippenberg investigates the disappearances and comes across the cunning serial killer Charles Sobhraj.

The Taste of Daisies (season 2)

On La casa de papel, Vis a Vis, Elite and all those other Spanish toppers, it is now time for that The Taste of Daisiess, in other words: Bitter Daisies, as the series is called in English. In this thriller series, we follow the investigation into the disappearance of a teenage girl from a close-knit community. Strangely enough, however, none of the townspeople seem really interested in finding the girl again.

These series also appeared on Netflix this week:

Robocar Poli (S1 and S2)
Prank Encounters (S2)
Haunted: Latin America (S1)

Films

Just Say Yes (2021)

In the romcom Just Say Yes Lotte (Yolanthe Cabau) is obsessed with the ideal wedding. She seems well on her way, but at the last minute her wedding is called off. The lead role in the film is for Cabau, but more famous faces such as Noortje Herlaar, Jim Bakkum and Tino Martin also come along.

Concrete Cowboy (2020)

Concrete Cowboy is about the black urban cowboys who have populated Philadelphia for the past hundred years. We follow the rebellious teenager Cole (Caleb McLaughlin), who has to spend the summer with his father in Philadelphia. Since he is estranged from his father (Idris Elba), he just doesn’t feel like it at all. Once in Philadelphia, his father turns out to be an urban cowboy. And Cole feels completely at home among those cowboys.

Booksmart (2019)

De coming of age-film Booksmart is a refreshing comedy. We follow best friends Amy and Molly, real college bulls. They rarely go to those typical high school parties and come to the conclusion that they actually think that’s a shame. The friends decide to let go before the end of their secondary school and then run into themselves.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

In The Lost World: Jurassic Park we end up on Site B; an InGen production facility on Isla Sorna. This move to another island gives the film the opportunity to showcase new dinosaurs and new locations, while remaining connected to the original film.

Shrek in Shrek 2 (2001 in 2004)

The films make fun of fairytales, but at the same time create completely new fairytales. The story of Shrek by the way quite fairytale-like. It is also the film that saved DreamWorks Animation. Thanks to the success of Shrek that studio could make many more films, such as Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda in How to Train Your Dragon.
