by Alex Carter - Sports Editor

Jeddah,Saudi Arabia – Alison‍ Lee is within striking distance of her first ‌LPGA Tour victory at ⁢teh Aramco Ladies Series presented by Public Investment Fund, just months after returning to‍ competitive golf following the birth of her son. Lee currently leads the ‌event, showcasing‍ a remarkable comeback fueled by dedication and emotional resilience.

Lee underwent an emergency C-section,⁣ requiring a six-week recovery period. Despite the physical challenges, she began practicing shortly after, starting with chipping, putting, and iron shots ⁣before gradually reintroducing her ⁢driver ⁢around eight to nine weeks postpartum. Her swift return ⁣and current performance highlight the⁣ dedication required to balance motherhood and professional athletics. “I felt really lucky and like I was able to recover pretty quickly. And I did ⁤work really hard,” Lee revealed.

The journey back to the LPGA wasn’t solely physical. Lee openly ⁤shared‍ the emotional toll of leaving her newborn son to compete. “There ⁤were ⁤a lot of days where I ‍would be‍ hitting range balls and just crying, ‍like the whole time⁣ I’m on the range,” she said. “You have so many different emotions. You have mom⁣ guilt, you question yourself when you have a bad day of⁢ practice. What am I doing here? ⁣I⁤ could be spending time with my son.”⁤ The internal ‌conflict between pursuing her career and being present for her child created meaningful challenges.

Despite these struggles, lee persevered,⁣ driven by a deep desire to return to the sport she ⁤loves. “And then there⁣ are moments where I ⁣want to do this so bad. The hardest thing to do is leaving the house. I mean, you’re so tired, sleep deprived, and you see a cute little‍ baby there. The last thing I⁢ want to do is leave and go do something hard.”

Lee’s⁤ strong showing this week underscores her ⁤commitment ‌and serves as an inspiration to other athletes navigating motherhood. “I felt like it was quite‍ a ‍challenge ⁢over the last few⁣ months. To be able to sit here and play, even though I didn’t play the way I ⁢wanted to the last couple weeks, I feel like I’ve come a ⁣long way.” The final rounds of the Aramco ‌Ladies Series will determine if Lee can capitalize on her momentum and secure her first LPGA Tour⁣ win.
