The Lufthansa Group postpones many aircraft deliveries. Nevertheless, it will receive a total of 35 aircraft this year and next. An overview.
In the wake of the corona crisis and state aid, the Lufthansa Group renegotiated the schedule of its aircraft deliveries with Airbus and Boeing. To cut costs, the aviation group will only buy a maximum of 80 new aircraft by 2023. Now it is also clear what the planning for the current and the coming year looks like.
Lufthansa boss Carsten Spohr said at the presentation of the quarterly figures on Thursday (August 6) that a total of 23 aircraft would be accepted in 2020. The following year the group will receive twelve more planes. aeroTELEGRAPH now has the exact allocation to models.
First two A320 Neo for Swiss
In the first quarter of 2020, the Lufthansa Group already received three Airbus A320 Neo, one A350-900 and three A320-200. However, these A320-200s are not new aircraft, but used-leased jets for Austrian Airlines. Another followed in June.
Then came in July with the license plate HB-JDB Swiss’ second Airbus A320 Neo on. In August, the A320 Neo with the registration D-AINZ followed at Lufthansa – for the airline the first pilot of the type with black-framed cockpit windows in “Zorro” look.
Two Boeing freighters, one Airbus A220
The following will follow in the course of the year: seven more Airbus A320 Neo, three A321 Neo, another A350-900 and two Boeing 777-200F freighters. In 2021 the group will accept three A320 Neo, eight A321 Neo and one A220-300.
Lufthansa is now expecting the first Boeing 777-9 in Year 2022, to which Boeing also postponed the general first delivery. Negotiating the following delivery schedule with Boeing, said Carsten Spohr when asked by aeroTELEGRAPH.
