New Jersey nurse dies after being pushed to pavement near Times Square – NBC New York (47)

A New Jersey nurse died in a New York City hospital after being the victim of an assault on Friday afternoon.

According to the New York City Police, María Ambrocio, 58, was pushed by a suspect as he tried to flee after stealing a 29-year-old woman’s cell phone in the area of 1435 Broadway.

The impact of the blow caused Ambrocio to fall to the pavement and hit his head. The victim, who lives in Bayonne, was transported to Bellevue Hospital with a severe head injury, the Uniform said.

Unfortunately, according to police sources, he passed away on Saturday after his family took him off life support.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear colleague Maria Ambrocio, a beloved member of our family at CarePoint Health. She spent 25 years as an oncology nurse at Bayonne Medical Center, and her untimely death is a profound loss for all of us, especially for those whose lives he touched every day, “said Dr. Achintya Moulick, executive director of CarePoint Health, in a statement. “Those who knew her described Maria’s deep spiritual connection. We will miss her very much. Our heart and our deepest condolences go out to the Ambrocio family,” he added.

On the other hand, in a Facebook post, the mayor of Bayonne also asked for prayer for the resident.

“I ask all the people of Bayonne to pray a prayer for Maria Ambrocio. Maria, an oncology nurse at Bayonne Medical Center, was brutally attacked in an unprovoked assault by a deranged man in Times Square,” said Mayor Jimmy Davis.

The alleged robber and attacker, Jermaine Foster, 26, of Irvington, New Jersey, was arrested and has now been charged with robbery and battery.

The case remains under investigation.
