Piche: New Icon of Queer Rap

It is with his participation in season 2 of “Drag Race France”that Piche is making a name for himself. So, on May 17, the drag artist released his 1 EP ‘Feast‘. A way for her to end up with work lasting several years!
A successful first single!
Building on the success of her first single, Confesswhich has exceeded one and a half million streams, the French artist of Algerian and gypsy origin designed this musical project with her twin brother, Morgan. The result is like the bearded queen: atypical and surprising. The tracks, mostly rap, offer a diversity that allows an audience LGBT friendly (but not only that!) to find your way around. Piche’s musical project is a long-standing one. By participating in the show Drag Raceshe already had plans to release an EP afterwards. The show was then an opportunity for her to put a spotlight on his project.
‘Festin’: his first EP
Furthermore, his EP ‘Feast‘ is the subject of a family project, in collaboration with his brother Morgan, with whom he has a good relationship. The two twins are fundamentally different, one is LGBT, the other is not particularly. The life paths are different but this brings a good mix in the artistic processlike rap, which is not a common passion at first glance, but that of his brother. Apart Diam’s or Kenny Arkanathe young drag artist didn’t feel legitimate in doing so. A legitimacy borrowed from representation, no doubt. In the end, it was through drag, and with the help of her brother, that Piche got closer to it. She evokes the same thing with regard to her gypsy culture.
New Rap Icon
Not having the pretension of wanting to revolutionize rap, Piche does not want to pose a supposed difference between a queer rap on one side and so-called “traditional” rap on the otherThe difference would be more about the representation, between the words and images intended to be inclusive. The song Oh but Picheis a perfect example, the tone is festive, fun and very suitable for clubs or nightclubs. The lyrics “Break, break gender, now it’s not orientation that makes sexuality”aims to be perfectly inclusive and multi-representative.
An inclusive message
In itself, the The message of this EP is intended to be light and positive. while keeping a fairly deep undertone pieces, thus allowing a certain balance between festive sounds, rap egotrip, inclusive punchlines and lyrics songs. Of all this work, the piece Breathe stands out from all the others. With themes such as suicide, for example, the subject allowed her and her brother to discuss the subject (something that is not necessarily usual). He is largely the author of the song. This allowed her to put words to certain unsaid things
With the release of his 1 EP ‘Feast‘, Tar positions itself as a new icon of French rapbringing a unique and inclusive perspective to the music scene. Carrying a light and positive message while addressing deep themesthis EP offers a refreshing and inclusive musical experiencecapable of reaching a wide audience.
