Three tourists from America get on a train in Plochingen, but it does not go to the desired destination, but instead uses the new line to Ulm for test purposes.

Inverted carriages, warm beer in the onboard bistro, trains canceled for whatever reason – Deutsche Bahn has a certain repertoire to make train travel a memorable experience. In the present case, however, the question of guilt has not been clearly clarified. The only sure thing is that the episode happened like this. A railway spokesman confirmed the incident, initially reported by the “Bild-Zeitung”.

What happened? Three Americans boarded a train in Plochingen on Tuesday morning to go to Metzingen. However, they were only supposed to arrive with a significant delay, which could not be explained by “delays in the operational process”, which was also welcomed by the railways.

In the second attempt, finally the real goal

Rather, the trio made an unintentional detour to Ulm. Because the train they got on was on the new Wendlingen-Ulm line for test purposes, which will only go into operation this Friday. Involuntary passengers were able to enjoy a first impression of the route over the Swabian Jura, which cost four billion euros.

After returning to Donaustadt main station, the three returned to Plochingen to start their journey to Metzingen from there. Nothing is known about their further course.
