FritzOS 7.20 is in the starting blocks
At Shopping Mall a major firmware update is pending for Fritz boxes on. The last beta versions are being released almost every day, which is a strong indication that the final version will soon be officially distributed to customers. FritzOS 7.20 is a big leap forward, even if the version number is only slightly changed. Customers of various Fritz boxes can look forward to DVB-C streaming, more secure WiFi and better VPN connections.
When exactly AVM will distribute the update to FritzOS 7.20 has not yet been announced. In the “Fritz Laboratory”, where interested parties can test the latest software in advance, the wires are running hot. It shouldn’t be long until the final version.
New to FritzOS 7.20 is the support of WPA3, the successor to the aging security standard WPA2, which does its job with almost every WLAN. When activating WPA3, however, it should be noted that the WLAN connection is set up in all WPA3-compatible devices. In addition, only the latest operating systems (such as Windows 10 version 1903, May 2019) understand the new standard. WPA3 is only supported for Android from version 10 and for iOS from version 13.
