Harianjogja.com, JOGJA – So far, shortness of breath is one of the most common symptoms of Covid-19. However, recently a man in the UK reported experiencing symptoms of being able to fall asleep from normal within 20 hours, even in a sitting position instead of lying down.
Reporting from Suara.com – Harianjogja.com network, a new study was later published in the British Journal of General Practice (BJGP Open). The patient’s family was then interviewed by the researcher and asked for permission to be allowed to share their experience with the public.
The wife of the 67-year-old patient said this had happened since last March that her husband had been experiencing Covid-19 symptoms until now.
“He’s still sleeping now, five and a half months after that, he sleeps a lot sitting up, he doesn’t lie down. He seemed to be totally exhausted, “he was quoted as saying on the website Express, Friday (16/10/2020).
Meanwhile, another patient, a 50-year-old woman, who has also contracted Covid-19 since March, said she initially thought she had recovered after about 15 days, until fatigue set in.
“It feels like I just got hit. You know I feel, gravity feels like it’s giving my limbs a boost. And it seems like I can’t do anything, “he said.
Additionally, a 34-year-old woman told researchers that she felt the same symptoms. Meanwhile, other patients raised concerns about never recovering from the disease.
“We know this is a new disease. But how long will it be. Maybe I won’t die now, but for sure I will never be better at feeling like this, “he said.
The journal published in the BJGP features an analysis of 24 interviews with Covid-19 patients. However, research led by Keele University found that further research needs to be done to inform as well as improve patient care.
