KOMPAS.com – Apple officially released its newest UI/user interface for iPhone devices, namely iOS 17 at the 2023 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) which was held online on Tuesday (6/6/2023) early morning WIB.
This iOS 16 successor comes with a number of new things that can make it easier for users to use their iPhone for daily activities. One of the new ones is a brand-new application called Journal.
Journal
As the name suggests, this application will later use mobile phone machine learning (ML) technology to provide various writing ideas, so that users can record their daily activities on smartphones easily.

According to Apple, this application can provide suggestions of several activities originating from various other applications such as Photos, Contacts, Music, Podcasts, Workouts, and many more.
Standby mode
Besides Journal, there is a new feature called Standby Mode. With this feature, users can implement a standby screen display that can display a variety of important features when the phone is in a horizontal position (landscape).

This view will fill the entire screen (full screen), and can display information from several widgets such as Clocks, Photos, Weather, Home Controls, and so on.
For user convenience, Standby Mode also supports the Live Activities feature and Siri voice input.

Autocorrect is smarter
Apart from Journal and Standby Mode, iOS 17 also comes with a number of updates to several pre-existing apps including an improved autocorrect feature on the keyboard.
NameDrop
AirDrop on iOS 17 can now be used to send contacts. This technology is called NameDrop.
Users can send a personalized Contact Poster with the chosen e-mail address and phone number, to another person by simply bringing two iPhones closer together. NameDrop also supports Apple Watch.
Photos and videos can also be shared in the same way. And if a user receives a large file via AirDrop, they can now leave the AirDrop range, and the file download will continue over Wi-Fi.
Series without “Hey”
iPhone users can now summon Siri’s virtual assistant more quickly. Now, instead of saying “Hey Siri”, users can just say “Siri”.
To make things even easier, users can now give back-to-back Siri commands without having to say “Siri” every time to provide a new input.
FaceTime Voicemail
Then, Apple also presents the FaceTime Voicemail feature which allows users to send short videos to other users so that their video calls (video calls) aka FaceTime are picked up.

Apart from Phone, Apple has also updated its iMessages application which now supports voice message transcript features, message search features and smarter location sharing, emoji features which are now replaced with stickers, and so on.

When will iOS 17 be available?
iOS 17 is available for app developers enrolled in the Apple Developer Program (only for developers) on the developer.apple.com site starting today.
The plan is that the Public Beta version of iOS 17 (trial for the public outside of developers) will be available in July, via the beta.apple.com site.
The final version of iOS 17 (all iPhone users who support it) will likely be released around September, October or November 2023.
