New enhancements to the Zoom for virtual meetings – technology – smart world

Zoom’s video conferencing program introduces a number of new features, which aim to put an end to critiques that affect it in terms of protection and privacy, with users flocking to the platform tremendously after the closures in the world due to the Corona virus.

Zoom CEO Eric Yuan on Wednesday outlined steps the company was taking to tackle problems, such as theft of user data and harassment by people entering video conferencing in what became known as “Zoom Pumping”.

With the end of the week, account holders will be able to determine the areas through which their data pass during their talks, apparently to stave off concerns that information passes through China, where it is vulnerable to penetration.

Zoom said in an online post that China’s servers are electronically fenced and isolated, “with the aim of ensuring that user meeting data remains outside of China.”

The Silicon Valley startup added that it is working with the electronic protection company Lotta and is using its program to pay financial rewards to anyone who finds holes in the Zoom application.

Zoom also touched on what was reported in a recent report on the sale of electronic pirates to the identities of “Zoom” users and their passwords on the “dark Internet.”

Zoom consultant Alex Stamos, who previously worked on Facebook, said that user identities may have been stolen from elsewhere on the Internet or through malware that is inserted into people’s computers.

Stealing identities and passwords is common on the Internet, as hackers experiment with whether users use the same identities to access other websites.

New security-related enhancements also include a toolbar for easy access to features such as closing conversations with strangers and making the password to participate in the video conference among the initial settings.

“The development of this heavy video platform to this size, successfully, without interruption and within weeks, is unprecedented in the history of the Internet,” Stamos said in a post.

India this week banned the use of “zoom” in government meetings as an “unsafe platform”.

New York state schools also banned the platform on grounds of security concerns.

The number of daily Zoom users in March exceeded 200 million, compared to 10 million at the end of last year.
