New area restrictions are coming into force today: beware of veils and mass actions

In addition, the daily increments of new cases of covid-19 have been more than 200 in the last few days, the highest since the end of June. The Ministry of Health had to respond to this.

“We will do everything we can to manage the situation without any fundamentally restrictive measures such as restricting free movement or closing shops or restaurants. Rather, these will be preventive measures, “said Health Minister Adam Vojtěch (YES) at Thursday’s press conference.

“From Saturday, we return the obligation to wear a veil in enclosed spaces where there are more than 100 people. At the same time, we are reducing the limit for holding events from the original thousand to 500 people, “Vojtěch subsequently announced.

It was these events that Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) also described as problematic. “Buildings where fifty or a hundred people meet pose a risk. After all, this was also the case with the Prague bar, “said the Prime Minister in Hradec Králové. “We must appeal to make people accountable,” the prime minister added.

According to Minister Vojtěch, the situation is not so serious as to threaten the declaration of a state of emergency or similar restrictive measures. There is no need to resume the activities of the Central Crisis Staff, he said.

However, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Jan Hamáček (CSSD) stated that the government will deal on Monday with the situation in which the staff’s activities would be resumed.

Great events probably even after the holidays

The Minister of Culture Lubomír Zaorálek (ČSSD) also openly admitted that it will not be possible to organize large events for thousands of people even after the end of the holidays.

Meanwhile, the tightening of measures in individual regions continues. On Ústí nad Labem in the north of Bohemia, veils have been mandatory since Friday, for example in GP clinics, social facilities and pharmacies. It was decided by the local regional hygiene. A day earlier, a similar tightening was introduced by a neighbor Liberec region.

She announced her own measures on Friday as well Prague. From Monday, in the metropolis, the obligation to wear veils in non-residential medical facilities, ie in pharmacies or waiting rooms with doctors, applies. Earlier, the obligation to wear a veil applied in hospitals and in the subway. In trams and buses, wearing a veil is currently only recommended, due to the current climatic conditions.

“I would like to appeal to the residents to take the word recommended as a challenge, that if there is a possibility, it is appropriate to cover the airways there as well. Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates).

On the contrary Moravian-Silesian Region, where the situation was worse due to Karviná, he relaxed the restrictions. Cultural events here can take place to the same extent as anywhere in the Czech Republic, but people will have to have a veil. Restaurants throughout the region can then be open until midnight, an hour longer than before.

“The situation in the region is stable, it does not change drastically. At the moment, the only safe district is Bruntál. There is really no one positive there, one case is being investigated there, “said Governor Ivo Vondrák (YES) at Thursday’s press conference after the meeting of the Security Council of the Moravian-Silesian Region.
