New app alerts you if you are at risk of being infected with coronavirus

Flattening The Curve

Three Flemish tech companies have joined forces in the fight against the corona virus. They have developed an app that indicates when you have been around infected people. The app can be downloaded for free from next week.

The app is called “Flattening The Curve” and was developed by tech companies Adunio, MyBingli and Gaga. The intention is that users give the app permission to monitor their movements and regularly update their health status via a uniform questionnaire.

Notification

In this way, the app registers so-called “hot zones” or “danger zones” – areas where there are many infections – and users are warned if they are in such an environment. “Have you been around someone who has reported experiencing symptoms for the past few days? You will receive a notification of this, so that you can further limit your own contacts and check your symptoms, ”it sounds. In addition, the app is also useful for governments and hospitals, who can make decisions and estimates easier by using the data.

Foreign interest

Several countries, such as Romania, Serbia, Macedonia and Russia, are already interested in the app. “That interest from abroad is a bonus. But there are also major challenges for us in our own country. We welcome all the new developments that are in place today to tackle this crisis. We are therefore reaching out to potential partners and the federal government to try to come together as one, ”it says.

Flattening The Curve will launch today and will be available in the App store from next week.
