There is enough money in the budget. Thus, the most probable future Minister of Finance Asen Vassilev answered today to Nova TV whether the state can afford all the increased social payments already agreed between the four political parties in the government negotiations – PP, ITN, BSP and DB.
Vassilev also clarified what will happen to New Year’s pensions. As it is known, this month is the last one in which supplements of BGN 120 to the pensions are planned.
The new government assures that the income of pensioners will not decrease with the termination of the New Year’s supplement, but so far it was not clear exactly how this will happen.
Today it became clear that Vassilev adheres to the original version, which was proposed by the caretaker government with the budget update – increase of the minimum and maximum pension, recalculation of all pensions and social allowance for each pensioner who remains below the poverty line ( BGN 413)
From the New Year, there will be supplements only for those pensioners who will remain below the poverty line after the increase in pensions on December 25, Vassilev said today.
They will receive a supplement to equalize pensions to BGN 413, which is the poverty line for this year. “All other pensions will be raised between 13% and 20%, depending on length of service,” Vassilev said.
According to him, after this change he will not remain a pensioner with less money than what he received this year. Now, however, pensioners on a minimum pension receive BGN 420.
