Netflix movie of gay Jesus, moves social networks. – Technology News – Technology

After the premiere on Netflix of The first temptation of Christ, a Christmas special from Brazilian humor producer Porta Dos Fundos in which Jesus Christ is presented as a gay man, Twitter was convulsed with thousands of Christian users who turned the #ChaoNetflix numeral with which they publicly exposed their discontent with the production.

Which, according to promoters of the trend, led to lower shares of the company last Friday after massive cancellations of the service.

So far, in a petition on the change.org page, more than 2 million signatures have been gathered that support the request that Netflix remove the film from its catalog, and that Porta Dos Fundos be held responsible for the crime of faith and also make a public apology for the offense.

Although so far Netflix has not ruled on this controversy, the Brazilian producer published a thread in which it flatly rejects expressions of hate, after they will attack its headquarters with Molotov cocktails and threaten the actors of the film to death.

“We anticipate that we will continue, more united, stronger, more inspired and sure that the country (Brazil) will survive this storm of hate and love will prevail along with freedom of expression,” the producer wrote on her Twitter account.

Porta dos Fundos continued publishing its sketches in a normal mood after the incident and has not spoken again about the subject.

The #ChaoNetflix initiative also recommended that they cancel the subscription at the company’s stream and that they withdraw any relationship they had with it.

For friday, Netflix shares on the New York Stock Exchange fell 1.25 percent and went from being priced at $ 332 to $ 326, which is evidenced in the graph as a considerable downturn. However, if the full graph of the last year is taken into account, these fluctuations may be related to external factors and not necessarily to specific actions of this movement.

“With more than 3 million signatures, we respectfully ask Netflix to remove the Christian-phobic film that insults Jesus. They didn’t care about Christians … now, we Christians cancel their service. It is logical. And their actions plummet, “ tweeted Wilson Tamayo, deputy director general of Lazos de Amor Mariano, a Catholic movement.

The shock continues in this social network and the petition continues to receive signatures from people around the world. But, for now, the movie is still available if you want to see it in the Netflix catalog.

In Colombia, the number #CanceloNetflix also went viral, with which some recognized users expressed their disagreement with the publication of the Christmas special.

On the other hand, other users have used the numeral to reject the actions of these Christian groups and give their support to the platform of stream, in what has become a tug of war between those who support to eliminate the tape and those who want it to continue as an expression of freedom.
