Nearly half of Americans fear Donald Trump will reject eventual defeat – The Economic Journal

Three out of every four supporters of Democrat Joe Biden are concerned that Donald Trump will reject the result of the US presidential election if the American president is not re-elected, according to an Opinion Research poll cited by The Guardian. Wednesday.

Almost half of all Americans, 47%, say they are concerned that Donald Trump will lose the election and refuse to admit defeat. Among Joe Biden voters, that number rises to 75%, while for voters of the US president the percentage was set at 30%.

On the other hand, two out of five (41%) supporters of Donald Trump are concerned about the possibility of Biden losing and not accepting the result, unlike the one in four Biden voters (28%).

Over the past few months Donald Trump has demonstrated that he may not accept a result that is not in his favor in the U.S. elections. In August, the American president assured that “the only way to lose this election is if it is rigged.”

As for how to vote, the Opinium Research poll shows that three out of five (60%) Trump voters believe the election is rigged. More than half of Biden’s voters (53%) share the same opinion. Most respondents are concerned that the postal service is unable to deliver ballots for postal voting in time and that their votes are not counted correctly. More than a third of citizens are concerned that they will not be able to vote.

More than two out of three (68%) supporters of the Republican candidate say they intend to vote in person, while only one in four (27%) intends to vote by mail. In contrast, more than half (56%) of respondents who intend to vote for Joe Biden plan to vote by mail and two out of five (39%) guarantee to vote in person.

Statistics reveal that Donald Trump’s attempts to discredit postal voting have been successful. The American president thinks that this way of voting at a distance is subject to irregularities.
