There are currently 2,485 corona patients in Belgian hospitals, 412 of which are in intensive care. This is evident from the online dashboard of health institute Sciensano on Monday morning.

In the period from 9 to 15 October, the last seven days for which consolidated data are available, an average of 7,876 new infections per day were detected, an increase of 79 percent.
It now also appears that last week there were at least two days with more than 10,000 confirmed infections. According to updated figures, there were 12,051 new infections on Tuesday and 10,932 on Wednesday.
Between 9 and 15 October, an average of 30.3 corona patients died per day, an increase of 14.3 compared to one week earlier. That brings the total number of deaths after a corona infection to 10,413.
From 12 to 18 October, there were also an average of 251.9 hospital admissions per day, exactly double the number of the previous week.
On average, 53,200 tests were administered daily between 9 and 15 October, 14.7 percent of which tested positive. The positivity ratio has increased by 4.3 percent compared to a week earlier.
New corona measures
Today, the new corona measures that were announced on Friday go into effect. This includes closing cafes and restaurants, curfews and further limiting close contacts. The measures apply for one month, after which an evaluation follows.
