Nearly 150 opponents of the bioethics bill gathered this Saturday in Chartres

The collective Marchons Enfants! brought together nearly 150 people this Saturday in Chartres to demand the withdrawal of the bioethics bill.

This collective brings together several associations dedicated “to the defense of the family or to children’s rights”. Among them: the Catholic Family Associations (AFC), Alliance Vita or the Manif pour tous. All ask for the withdrawal of the bioethics bill.

In total, about sixty gatherings were organized by the collective Marchons Enfants !, this Saturday, throughout France. The bioethics bill was adopted at second reading in the National Assembly, on the night of July 31 to August 1, with 60 votes in favor, 37 against and 4 abstentions. But he still has to come back to the Senate in early 2021.

Among the 150 opponents of the bill gathered in Place Châtelet, this Saturday, several personalities, such as the Bishop of Chartres, Monsignor Philippe Christory, or elected officials, such as Jean-Frédéric Poisson, president of the Christian Democratic Party and former deputy of Yvelines.

Paul Bridier, head of AFC Chartres, underlines:

“The text was adopted in the Assembly this summer, in the middle of the night and with a very low participation of deputies. This bill, which has continued to evolve over the debates, is neither organic nor It should be remembered that it provides for measures such as an extension of the time limit for performing a voluntary termination of pregnancy (abortion). It is essential to remain mobilized against this. “

Pascale Morinière, president of the National Confederation of Catholic Family Associations (CNAFC), denounces:

“We have been mobilized for a long time to remind people that humans are not a commodity and that we cannot eliminate the father in this way. The opening of medically assisted procreation for all women would voluntarily deprive children of a father all their life. We cannot let that pass, it is about filiation. We are shocked by the measures of this text, which offends our conscience. “

The extension of PMA (medically assisted procreation) to single women and lesbian couples is one of the campaign promises, in 2017, of candidate Emmanuel Macron. Currently, assisted reproduction is only available to heterosexual couples on medical indication.
