For Professor Gala, it is yes. For Philippe Devos, “it will depend on the behavior of the over 65s”. Marc Van Ranst wants to be more careful.

Belgium will likely reach the milestone of 10,000 deaths from the coronavirus at the start of the week. The number of deaths linked to the coronavirus amounted to 9,988 this Sunday. Half occurred in nursing homes (4,943), almost as many in hospitals (4,923). The figure of 10,000, although symbolic, acts as an indicator of the violence of the epidemic that our small country is experiencing. The number of deaths is certainly increasing, but of incomparable magnitude: 10 deaths on average per day over the past week, according to Sciensano. Hospital admissions are down 23% from 7 days ago (26 on average). But the virus remains very present: you have to learn to live with it.
