NBA Launches “Tap to Watch” for Simplified Game access
NEW YORK – The National Basketball Association (NBA) is streamlining live game viewing with the launch of “Tap to Watch,” a new initiative debuting with the 2025-26 season. This program aims to connect fans directly to live NBA games across the league’s digital network, encompassing national broadcasts on ABC/ESPN, NBC/Peacock, and Prime Video, and also the majority of local game coverage.
“Tap to Watch” will be integrated into NBA.com, the NBA App, team websites and apps, and extend to partnerships with major digital platforms including google, Meta, X, Snap, Reddit, and Roku. Additional integrations with companies like Dapper Labs, FanDuel, Fanatics, and Yahoo Sports, alongside other connected TV partners, are planned throughout the season.
According to NBA Head of Direct-to-Consumer Products, Technology & Operations Chris Benyarko, “Tap to Watch” is designed to provide fans with clear direction to live games, “Whether scrolling social media, using the NBA App, or checking scores on a partner platform, fans will know exactly where our games are and be taken directly to them.”
Here’s how the system will function:
* NBA Digital Platforms: The “Games” and “Schedule” sections on NBA.com, the NBA App, and team digital properties will display available viewing options tailored to the user’s location. A “watch” button will then direct fans to the relevant streaming service – be it a national broadcaster, local provider, or NBA League Pass – allowing immediate viewing for subscribers or prompting sign-up for those who aren’t.
* Third-Party Platforms: “Watch” features will be incorporated into partner platforms in a customized manner, guiding fans to the appropriate national or local live game broadcast.
Enhancing the experience further, the NBA App will introduce Real-Time Scores, offering a live, synchronized clock displaying scores with minimal delay, mirroring the action within NBA arenas. This feature is intended to provide fans with an even more immersive experience as they locate and access live games.
