The Boston Celtics lost a wild game in San Antonio. Dennis Schröder remains pale, the Texans finish the game furiously. The Phoenix Suns show no nakedness at the New York Knicks either and win for the 15th time in a row. Utah suffered a last-minute defeat against New Orleans.
LA Clippers (11-8) – Detroit Pistons (4-15) 107: 96 (GAME RELEASE)
Charlotte Hornets (13-8) – Minnesota Timberwolves (9-10) 133:115 (BOXSCORE)
- The Timberwolves came to Queen City with a winning streak of 5 games, especially the defense knew how to convince. Before the game, opponents only hit 30.1 percent from a distance, while Charlotte caught fire and welded 23 of 40 triples (57.5 percent) through the trap.
- Kelly Oubre Jr. had drunk most of the target water, the forward hit seven of his 13 distance throws for 27 points and set his career best with those 7 three-pointers. PJ Washington (17, 5/7 threesome) presented himself equally well, slipping into the starting five for the injured Mason Plumlee (Wade) and doing his job really well. LaMelo Ball (10, 13 assists) was primarily a director, Gordon Hayward and Miles Bridges each contributed another 18 points to the victory.
- Charlotte set her own franchise record with the 23 triples and finally pulled away at the end of the third quarter. In the last four minutes of the segment, Oubre Jr. pocketed four threes, bringing the lead to 19 points. Wolves coach Chris Finch benched his starters at -20 with six minutes to go.
- D’Angelo Russell (18, 8/15 FG) started well with the guests, but deteriorated significantly over the course of the year. Anthony Edwards (11, 4/9) was not a factor at all, only Karl-Anthony Towns (25, 9/18, 6 assists) achieved normal form. Coming from the bank, Malik Beasley (18, 5/11 threesome) was still a bright spot.
New York Knicks (10-9) – Phoenix Suns (16-3) 97:118 (BOXSCORE)
- The Phoenix Suns have further expanded their series – in New York they easily achieved their 15th win in a row. The Sun’s best man was Devin Booker, who this time followed 32 points (14/27 FG, 4/9 threes) after 35 points in Cleveland. Book had already accumulated all of these in the first 36 minutes.
- In the final section, Chris Paul (14, 3/6 FG, 10 assists) put the lid on again. Seven players scored double digits at the Suns, including Deandre Ayton (14, 13 rebounds) and Cameron Payne (13). As a team, the guests sank almost 56 percent from the field and thus nipped any hope of curtsey in the bud.
- New York grabbed 17 offensive rebounds (PHX: 1), but a rate of 37 percent was far too little to stop the hottest team in the NBA. The hosts’ top scorers were Kemba Walker (17) and Immanuel Quickley (16), while Derrick Rose with ankle problems was absent again. Julius Randle (9, 3/8 FG) remained pale, Evan Fournier (11, 4/15) dived completely after a good start.
- The Suns had the game under control for over 48 minutes, the Knicks only appeared briefly in the third quarter thanks to Walker. However, Booker made sure that after the Knicks had shortened to -10, he hit two jumpers in a row and silenced the MSG.
