NBA 2K26 Management Modes Receive Critically important Updates
Aug 27, 2025, 11:11 AM ET – 2K Games has detailed a range of enhancements coming to the management simulation modes, MyNBA and MyGM, in NBA 2K26. These updates focus on deeper immersion, faster gameplay, and expanded customization options.
A key addition is the ability to experience the playoffs online. Players can create a custom playoff bracket and invite up to 15 friends to compete for the championship, or open the bracket to the wider 2K community. The game will utilize a dedicated playoff presentation to heighten the competitive atmosphere.
Responding to player feedback, the developers have considerably improved simulation speeds. Simulations will run, on average, 8% faster than in NBA 2K25. Players can now choose between “Normal,” “Smarter,” and “Faster” simulation settings. The “Smarter” setting prioritizes realistic trade logic and strategic decision-making, albeit at a slightly slower pace.”Faster” simulations allow seasons to progress more quickly, while still considering numerous variables.
Further personalization is enabled by allowing players to integrate their MyPLAYER character into any team roster, across all eras, to assess their performance against basketball’s ancient greats.Franchise success will be visually celebrated with banners displayed in a team’s arena, recognizing a manager’s accomplishments. The MyWNBA mode will expand with the addition of the Golden State Valkyries.
MyGM will feature a revamped financial system, accurately reflecting the economic realities of different historical periods, including budgets and salary caps. Players will also navigate 30 unique, team-specific storylines beginning in the 2025 offseason, mirroring current challenges faced by real-world NBA franchises. The mode will offer both ranked and unranked play, with the unranked option providing extensive customization, including athlete editing, custom roster imports, and draft class adjustments.
team governors will issue directives to general managers at the start of each season, with rewards – such as increased trade budgets or facility upgrade funds - granted for meeting or exceeding expectations.
