Argentine soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona died at the age of 60, due to a heart attack on the outskirts of the capital, Buenos Aires, according to his spokesman Sebastian Sanchi told AFP.

Maradona, who won the World Cup in 1986 and is considered one of the greatest football players in history, underwent brain surgery in early November.

And the President of the Republic, Alberto Fernandes, immediately declared national mourning for a period of three days.
