National chaos: the choices of the ASLs and the Inter case

A general chaos which is creating a series of heated controversies. The main theme concerns the ASLs who have decided not to allow players from different clubs to answer the call of their respective national teams.

As communicated by the FIGC, at the moment they are 18 players who were able to reach Coverciano and make himself available to the national team (formerly orphan of the CT Roberto Mancini, currently positive for Covid-19 and, for this, in isolation).

Of the 41 blue players called up (precisely in order not to have surprises related to possible Covid-19 problems), only the following players have not been “stopped”: Belotti, Bernardeschi, Calabria, Cragno, Criscito, Di Lorenzo, El Shaarawy, Emerson, Gagliardini, Grifo, Lasagna, Orsolini, Pellegri, Luca Pellegrini, Pessina, Sirigu, Soriano and Tonali.

At the moment, there are six clubs that have not been able to let go of their members due to the intervention of their respective ASLs. Specifically, the nationals of Fiorentina, Genoa, Lazio, Rome, Sassuolo and Inter (in reality the Nerazzurri nationals would be free to go to the national team but only by private means).

Pending news, the national team is preparing to face a triptych of matches (friendly with Estonia and, subsequently, the two Nations League matches with Poland and Bosnia) with the men counted.

The CEO of Inter Beppe Marotta has requested the prompt intervention of the Government to find uniformity of judgment and avert the risk of influencing the performance of the teams in the league. “If we need a moment to stop, I propose that we all stop for 15 days, set a clear and equal regulation for everyone, and then we start again”, his words to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

Being able to count on your national teams in this period, when there are many matches on the horizon, would be a huge advantage over those who will see the own roses reduced to the bone for the commitments of their national teams.

A complicated situation.
