She will only stay for four years. The president of the Professional football league (LFP), Nathalie Boy de la Tour, announced Monday to the newspaper The team that she will not run for a second term at the head of the institution. She still assures that she will be fine at the end of her term, which runs until November 2020.

“Four years is a good cycle”

The recent controversies about the shutdown of Ligue 1 because of the health crisis are not, according to her, at the origin of her decision. “It’s a carefully considered choice. I had made the decision not to represent myself at the beginning of the year and if there had not been the Covid-19, I would have communicated it earlier, ”she indicated. “I’m 51 years old, I have other desires and other projects. I spent four years in the League. Four years is a good cycle. It is both short and long. I gave and received a lot, learned too. I wish after twenty years in football, on which I intend to keep a wise and attentive eye, move on, ”explained the leader.

Nathalie Boy de la Tour was elected at the head of the League in November 2016, after the resignation of Frédéric Thiriez. She thus became the first woman to hold this position.
