The Barisan Volunteers Nusantara (BaraNusa) group reports former Commissioner of Komnas HAM Natalius Pigai to the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Police on suspicion racism on Monday (4/10).
“I have finished making the report (LP),” said the General Chairperson of BaraNusa, Adi Kurniawan when confirmed, Monday (4/10).
In this case, the report was registered with the number LP/B/0601/X/2021/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated October 4, 2021. Pigai was reported on suspicion of committing criminal acts of insult or hate speech and/or crimes concerning the elimination of racial and ethnic discrimination.
The alleged criminal violation is enshrined in Article 45 A Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 28 Paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions and/or Article 156 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 16 Jo Article 4 Letter (b) Paragraph (1) RI Law No. 40 of 2008 concerning Elimination of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination and/or Article 14 Paragraph (1), Paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code.
Reported in the LP is the account owner in the name of @NataliusPigai2. Adi explained that Pigai was considered to have often acted racist so it was reported. In addition, he said, Pigai is also considered to have often slandered President Joko Widodo.
“Natalius Pigai has often slipped and is racist. Especially now that he is even sharper. He commits vile slander against President Jokowi. In our opinion, this can no longer be tolerated,” said Adi.
For information, previously the reporting effort was made to the Polda Metro Jaya. However, he was directed by investigators to be made to the Police Headquarters.
“Because this is a national issue and the second is related to Central Java there, then there are Jokowi and Ganjar,” said BaraNusa group lawyer Muhammad Zaenal Arifin.
Pigai previously uploaded a video of Ganjar Pranowo’s visit to Papua. Pigai also put a note not to trust Ganjar and Jokowi while alluding to the killing of the Papuan people.
“Don’t trust the Central Javanese Jokowi, Ganjar. They robbed our wealth, after that they killed the Papuan people, they even trampled on the pride of the Papuan nation with lowly words, racism, monkeys and trash,” wrote Pigai in his Instagram account @natalius_pigai, Friday (1 /10).
Pigai has also denied making racist remarks to Jokowi and Ganjar. He admitted that he only mentioned the regional origins of Jokowi and Ganjar.
According to him, the upload was made to criticize Indonesia’s political system which creates inequality of opportunity in politics. For example, the head of state always comes from the Javanese tribe.
