- Las Cigarreras hosts two days of activities on Friday 16 December, aimed at a young audience, and Thursday 22 for associations, traders and the general public
Alicante, 8 December 2022. Christmas returns to the territory of the Edusi-Las Cigarreras area, between the emblematic castles of Santa Bárbara and San Fernando, with days full of varied and free activities for all audiences.
On Friday 16 December Navidad Joven proposes a “Day of Urban Art and Muralism” aimed at the youngest of the area. The initiative proposes various workshops for the elaboration of a mural, the recording of a podcast on “The gaze of the Edusi districts”, and another Urban Dance activity. Navidad Joven will take place from five to nine in the evening, in the Edusi Horizontal Garden, located in the old Tobacco Factory (Calle Sevilla, 2).
Community Christmas
The second major activity is the Community Christmas, which will take place in this same space in Cigarreras on Thursday, December 22, between eleven and two in the afternoon and five and ten in the evening.
It will have a sample and meeting of the Associative Fabric and Edusi programs, or a photographic exhibition in augmented reality, which is the result of a project in which several entities have participated, such as AJEA (EDUSI Alicante Youth Association), AMASVE, AVV Carolinas Bajas- Palmeretes, San Rafael Center and Plaza América Senior Association.
Another activity that brings technology closer to the territory is the “Between two Castles” virtual simulator with which citizens can take a journey in virtual reality through different spaces in Alicante, located in the Castles of San Fernando and Santa Bárbara, in a 360 degree virtual experience.
In addition, there will be a prominent space for the delivery of food and toys to the beneficiary entities of the solidarity collection which will take place on Saturday December 17 in San Francisco street (Calle de las Setas) and whose objective is that no family runs out of toys or basic necessities on these dates.
During this community Christmas, diplomas will also be awarded to the winners of the Christmas Business Contest, endowed with 3,000 euros in prizes, there will be a photocall to immortalize the day, and workshops on Christmas decorations, games or storytelling will be held.
The boys’ and girls’ choir of AMASVE Spain will animate the day with the interpretation of popular Christmas carols.
Christmas shops
From 7 December it is possible to visit the thirty shops that took part in the Christmas Decoration Contest in the EDUSI area and admire the shop windows and decorations made in the workshops carried out in the previous weeks.
The territory of Edusi also hosts other activities organized by the Municipality such as the skating rink in the Plaza de Toros, the exhibition of the artisan workshops in Panteón de Quijano on days 2, 9, 3, 4, 10 and 11 during the morning and afternoon , or the Christmas Concert at the ADDA Auditorium, Thursday 22 December at 20:00 (it is necessary to collect the invitation in advance).
