Merdeka.com – NASA warns that there will be a giant asteroid 89 feet wide past Earth today, Wednesday (14/2). GizChina reported, this asteroid by NASA is called Asteroid 2023 CJ1. For that, they said they were getting ready.

But mankind need not worry. The reason is, so far it has been monitored to be 4.8 million kilometers from Earth. The asteroid has a speed of 25,755 km/hour or twice the speed of a hypersonic ballistic missile.

NASA knows this because it has a monitoring system with an algorithm called Sentry-II. Through this tool, they are able to calculate the risk of object impacts from Earth and can track the Asteroid’s orbit path.

Through this data, they can predict the orbits of these objects in the future. To date, nearly 28,000 near-Earth asteroids have been discovered. So far, none of them pose a real threat to Earth.

However, it cannot rule out possible future threats. That’s why space agencies have been testing shapes to change course or even destroy this asteroid if necessary.
