A new perspective: a NASA scientist processed an image taken by the Juno probe to obtain a unique photo entitled La Rose. It shows the famous Great Red Spot, a Jupiter storm.

After increasing the color saturation of an image from the Juno probe, NASA scientist Mary J. Murphy obtained a spectacular photo of the Great Red Spot, an endless storm that animates the southern hemisphere of Jupiter.

Called La Rose, the photo was posted on the Juno probe mission’s Twitter account on May 1.

In this photo, gray clouds are visible. These move counterclockwise at lightning speeds exceeding those of all storms occurring on Earth.

The original image of Juno’s camera was taken on July 20, 2019.

The Great Red Spot

The Great Red Spot is a huge Jupiter atmosphere anticyclone located in the southern hemisphere. It is currently 1.3 times wider than Earth. This is the most powerful storm known in the Solar system.

NASA previously released other spectacular photos of Jupiter taken by the Juno probe.
