NASA detects a large dust storm on the Martian surface

Sandstorm season has already begun on Mars. According to the portal Mashable, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, a distant satellite sent by NASA, captured a sizable regional dust storm on the Red Planet, encompassing the area where the space agency’s Perseverance rover is surveying the Martian surface.

These weather conditions hampered the space agency’s plans to fly its Ingenuity helicopter again (part of the Perseverance mission): the air became too dense and sunlight would not have reached the small experimental helicopter’s solar panels for safe flight. .

“The presence of this storm came quite early, even before the dusty season begins!” NASA wrote. “In fact, we have never seen a storm of this power on Mars so early.
