Nantes, voted best European destination!

NANTES, BEST EUROPEAN DESTINATION FOR TOURISM AND CULTURE!

Nantes has just been named the best European tourist and cultural destination of the year. Le Voyage à Nantes is a marvel and without a doubt our best example, in France, of cultural and sustainable tourism. We have written about fifteen posts on its creation of high quality cultural tourism, in this little blog, and see with pleasure that everything continues, evolves and receives rewards!
Widening its playground towards the nearby vineyards or towards Saint-Nazaire, the neighboring town. Nantes Métropole has changed over the last 30 years probably more than any other city in France and has just received this Prize for the best European tourist and cultural destination of the year, elected by a jury made up of 42 experts who awarded this precious title.
We will take this opportunity to tell you the rest in 2021 and to take a look at European projects that were competing, all “participatory”. As this nice little booklet says: The strength of Travel to Nantes is its diversity!

LThe jury was also sensitive to the fact that the number of visitors to Nantes has increased by + 79% in 8 summers, with two key figures: 680,000 visitors for the summer of 2018, widely attended for the cultural notoriety of the City; and the economic benefits amounted to 50 million euros, allowing the city to consolidate and continue a quality event.
The summary of Nantes’ candidacy insisted on social ties “ In Nantes, culture and art are factors of cohesion and creativity an economic lever. It not only makes the inhabitants proud of their city, but makes them feel actors of all the changes and ambassadors of the Nantes spirit. And in terms of culture, Nantes is among the first in France in terms of budgetary expenditure. The historic capital of Brittany is also home to a growing number of artists and theater groups such as the famous Royal de Luxe. »Link to the Voyage à Nantes: HERE, and link to a short summary of news from the VAN, the Voyage à Nantes, Nantes the VAN on Scoop.it

I- THE NEW WORKS of the Voyage à Nantes in 2021
A new project in 2020-21 has started on the Parcours Estuaire, Nantes and Saint Nazaire invested by art since 2007, a real open-air collection of 33 works installed on the banks of the Loire in the landscapes, and for which, we have seen it in several posts in this little blog, residents are invited, solicited, questioned. Each of the works has been designed according to the site on which it is presented, and thus reveals the contrasting landscapes of the Loire estuary, between nature reserves and industrial monuments.
In January 2021 this new work will be delivered to Saint-Nazaire near the harbor master’s office, produced by the international artists Daniel Dewar and Grégory Gicquel and composed of three sculptures: The foot, The sweater and the Digestive system, works that will be more or less submerged according to the tides. It will also be a “highlight of the development of the Place du Commando, which has become a high place of conviviality and the center of attraction of the Saint-Nazaire seafront”, because the works are not placed at random but in an environment and a future to be enriched. Ken and Madonna Litta, by Leonardo Da Vinci, well that’s not sure …

KEN THE PERFECT TOURIST was quite passionate about the new President, and, to travel, he had applied! Well not quite, he had written it, and wanted to show it to Barbie Chérie, who was a mind-blowing intellectual, as you know, and would find words better than him. But, from the first lines, she burst into tears: “But Ken, still a little month together, the time for the end of the epidemic! After, promised / sworn, you will go back to be your Perfect tourist“. He took her in his arms: “But of course, where was my head?”, He answered sheepishly.
