The police and firefighters were exposed to mortar and fireworks fire in several districts of Nantes, during the night of New Year’s Eve. Three cities were particularly agitated, on this night of transition to the year 2021: Bottière, Malakoff and northern districts (Samuel de Champlain).
The police made several arrests during these events. About twenty police custody were listed this Friday morning, for all the activity of the Nantes prosecutor’s office (among them, also, drunkenness, insults and alcoholic behavior).
Mortar in the car
All the suspects arrested in connection with urban violence in the neighborhoods were released without prosecution. It was not possible to establish their participation in the shooting on help and security forces.
With the exception of a 23 year old young man. He was arrested at the wheel of his vehicle in Les Dervallières, around 2:30 am. He was in possession of a mortar and braved confinement. The young man was brought before a prosecutor to be summoned to the criminal court. The prosecution requested his placement under judicial supervision.
