Nagorno-Karabakh conflict: Putin and Macron call for vo …

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron are calling for a full ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh. This is evident from a statement that the Kremlin distributed on Wednesday evening, after a telephone conversation between the two heads of state.

Putin and Macron are also ready to step up diplomatic efforts to find a solution to the conflict.

France and Russia, along with the US, are part of the OSCE’s Minsk group, which mediates in the conflict.

Putin and Macron have therefore talked about “concrete parameters for future cooperation, primarily within the framework of the Minsk group,” the communication continues.

The resurgence of violence in the disputed Caucasian region of Nagorno-Karabakh has already killed 114 people, according to the Armenian side. There are 12 civilians killed in Azerbaijan. Both camps say they killed hundreds of opponents’ soldiers.
