Fishing Association (HSV) Wijhe was puzzled last July, because the pike and other fish in the fishing water at the town hall were still alive. Only now is it clear that a virus was the cause.

Frans Simons, chairman of the HSV Wijhe, is very disappointed. “But there’s nothing that can be done about it. The virus is spread by birds. We hope that once the virus has literally died out here, we will be able to restock fish here in the future.”
