[Mysterious Transmission Belt]Scientists discovered the “gravity highway” of the solar system, allowing celestial bodies to fly from Jupiter to Neptune in 10 years | TechOrange

Recently, astronomers in the United States and Serbia discovered a “gravity highway” in the solar system that can fly celestial bodies 100 astronomical units in less than a century, which is 100 times the distance from the earth to the sun. The research team published the paper in the journal “Science Advance”.

The gravity highway starts in the asteroid belt and extends to Uranus

This “highway” is a kind of arch structure, starting from the asteroid belt, extending to Uranus, and even greater distances, allowing stars to move the distance equivalent to Jupiter to Neptune in less than 10 years. This arched structure is highly related to Jupiter’s gravitational pull. Many celestial bodies (such as Jupiter family comets and Centaur asteroids) are controlled by this structure and eventually hit Jupiter or throw out the solar system.

There have been cases in the astronomy community that accelerate probes through planetary gravity. Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 probes use the gravitational acceleration of Jupiter and Saturn. In the future, humans will be able to shoot probes out of the solar system through this highway; it will also shorten the time to reach outer planets and monitor celestial bodies that may collide with the earth.
