Mysterious discovery: – Rays to the earth

In February, a mysterious light appeared in the night sky. Now astronomers have discovered that the bright light came from a black hole that sends rays directly to Earth.

It’s the first time astronomers have detected a black hole using visible light. This is reported by several international media, including The independent.

The most powerful ever

A black hole is a region of space where gravitational forces are so strong that nothing can escape, not even light, according to Great Norwegian encyclopedia. There are two types of black holes: those created when stars collapse and those that are referred to as supermassive black holes.

When a star is torn apart by the gravitational pull of a black hole, it is called a tidal disruption. It’s not an unusual phenomenon, but in February the light was stronger than ever.

The Independent writes that it emitted more light than 1,000 trillion suns. The reason is likely that the star was engulfed by a black hole pointing straight at our planet, which released a huge amount of energy that became visible as light, according to astronomers.

First picture

A black hole forms when a body, such as a large star, collapses in such a way that all of its mass gathers in virtually one point. They are likely to be found at the centers of all galaxies, including the Milky Way, and may have a million to several billion times the mass of the Sun.

In the past, black holes have only been illustrated with drawings of what NASA thinks they look like. But in 2019, researchers managed to get the first image of a black holethanks to Event Horizon.

– This is the strongest evidence we have of the existence of black holes. Of all great discoveries, this is just the beginning, said Shepherd Doeleman, director of the Event Horizon Telescope, according to Cnn.

The image presented in 2019 showing the supermassive hole at the center of the galaxy M87 is not an image of the hole itself. What is shown is glowing gas around the hole.
