Mirocha Earns OVC Women’s Golfer of the Week Honors
Eastern Illinois University golfer Mya Mirocha has been recognized as the Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. This distinction marks only the fifth time in program history an EIU women’s golfer has received the weekly award.
Mirocha’s impressive performance at the Chicago State Windy City Classic propelled her to a third-place finish with a 36-hole score of 150, just one stroke behind the tournament’s co-leaders. This achievement represents a meaningful milestone for the junior and highlights the growing strength of the EIU women’s golf program.
The 150 total ties for the seventh-lowest 36-hole score in eastern Illinois women’s golf history, while her first-round 72 is tied for fifth best all-time. Mirocha has consistently demonstrated strong play, earning her third top-ten finish in the last five tournaments, dating back to the spring season.
Her third-place result at the Windy City Classic was the EIU women’s golf team’s best tournament finish since daphne Chang secured second place at the Indiana State Spring Invitational in April 2018. EIU has now accumulated a total of seven OVC Golfer of the week awards, with Chang previously earning the honor three times during her career.
