“I keep having problems with my right knee. At the moment it is not very stressful, I don’t feel any pain. But it wasn’t working in football recently, ”said the attacker.
The Stahler suffered the first setback in June 2015 in a game at SV Brenkhausen / Bosseborn. After a closer examination, “Bando”, as his friends call him, was diagnosed with shock – cartilage damage when he was only 22 years old. An operation only followed at the end of September and then a long way back to the square. After this break, Bandowski rarely found his way back to his old strength.
He often dragged himself across the square and couldn’t take part in training sessions with one hundred percent. Almost three years after the first surgery on the right knee, the second followed. On October 16, 2018, the left foot was back in the hospital after the league game against SV Kollerbeck. Giving up was and is not the thing for him. “It doesn’t work without football. I will continue to play even with pain, ”said Bandowski. Biting your teeth is often the order of the day. But the 27-year-old isn’t thinking about quitting yet. It should still be a few years in the FC Stahle jersey.
For the future, the offensive player has no greater sporting desire than two healthy knees. “I would then like to move up again with Stahle – like in 2016 after the win in Germete. But you also get older, ”laughs the Bayern fan. “I won’t change clubs anymore. I’m already quite satisfied here, ”he adds. And so are the Stahler with him. As the team’s drinks officer, he shows that you can rely on him off the pitch as well. The refrigerator is always full – even if the shift worker cannot take part in the training because of knee problems or because of work in the glassworks in Boffzen. “That’s just part of it. We all get along very well off the pitch. Almost all of my friends play in this team, ”explains the 27-year-old.
The left-footed player spent his first two series in senior football with the neighbor and arch-rival SV Albaxen – including promotion to the A-League and relegation to the B-League. Then the offensive talent at the time moved to the FCS a few kilometers down the Weser. “Of course, the promotion to the district league under Norbert Dölitzsch will not be forgotten. In the following season we were really just relegated. Like the Warburger Sportfreunde 08 we also had 38 points, but the significantly worse goal difference, ”said Kevin Bandowski looking back. Then Stahle went back to the A-League. And not back to the district league until today.
In the interrupted current season, things have not gone optimally for the black and whites so far. “Bando” is not satisfied with the 15 points from seven games. “Even with our victories, there was still a lot of room for improvement in terms of play. We will probably not play for promotion anymore – Bad Driburg is too strong for that this season, ”says the 27-year-old. So then only the district league with FC Stahle would remain for the time being. But Kevin Bandowski does not want to write off his dream of the district league completely.
